Helen Liu graduated from Hunan Province University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM) with a Bachelor degree in Medicine in 1984. She advanced her study in a three year
postgraduate program of Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Dr. Liu worked as a physician and teaching faculty professional in her alma mater. When China opened its door to the world during the post cultural revolutionary era, she and her husband went to Edmonton, Canada to study and live. She relocated with her young family to Maryland in 1993 and eventually settled here.
Dr. Liu had the opportunity to work in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine clinics in Canada and United States before opening up her own practice. Dr. Liu was nationally certified and Maryland licensed in Acupuncture in 1995. She started her own practice in 1997 in Ellicott City. Her rigorous medical training and patient’s need oriented work ethic have enabled her to approach and treat varieties of illnesses effectively.
According to the ancient Chinese medical and philosophical texts, "The best doctor treats not yet emerged diseases.” Dr. Liu highly values preventative medicine. By detecting
and treating illnesses at an early stage, Dr. Liu assists her patients to receive much better results
and achieve better wellbeing.
